  • UK Mouse Sequencing Programme - Data Use Policy

We make the mapping and sequencing data we obtain available for public use as it is generated. However there has been a considerable investment in acquiring these data, and we request that you follow these guidelines when using preliminary data obtained from this web site.

    Sequence data

As well as finished sequences, which are freely available through EMBL/Genbank, we also make unfinished sequence data available. Users of sequence data from the UK MRC mouse genome sequencing programme should not publish or otherwise disseminate the information without appropriate acknowledgement. The appropriate format is as follows:

"These sequence data were produced by the UK MRC mouse genome sequencing programme, funded by the UK Medical Research Council and can be obtained from ftp://ftp.sanger.ac.uk/pub/mouse/yyy"

where "yyy" is the appropriate ftp directory from which the data has been obtained. An http URL may be given in place of the ftp directory if that was the source of the data.

Unfinished sequences should all have been assigned an EMBL/Genbank accession number (in the HTG division). This should be quoted when available.

Please ensure that you use the latest available version of unfinished sequences. In the interval between first unfinished release and finishing, errors are continuously being discovered and corrected.

If you have any questions regarding the sequencing data or their use in publications, please contact us. We strongly encourage you to get in touch, so that we can let you know of any related data and inform you when the sequence is finished, and we can ensure that published information relating to our sequences is properly reflected in our databases.

    Mouse mapping data

Users of unpublished mapping data presented on our web pages should not publish or otherwise disseminate the information without appropriate acknowledgement. The appropriate format is as follows:

"These mapping data were produced by the UK MRC mouse genome sequencing programme, funded by the UK Medical Research Council and were obtained from the World Wide Web at http://mrcseq.har.mrc.ac.uk/"

If a map figure is reproduced in a publication, the figure legend should include an explicit statement concerning the source of the information.

Mapping data should be regarded as preliminary and so subject to regular update and change. It is recommended, therefore, that users carry out appropriate confirmatory checks.

If you have any questions regarding the mapping data or their use in publications, please contact us.
